Number of people dying at home is rising

From The Mirror : More people than ever are dying at home – 20.8% of deaths, official figures reveal.

In 2010, 102,416 people passed away at home rather than in hospitals or care homes – up from 93,907 in 2004, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Home deaths in England and Wales almost halved between 1974 and 2003.

Writing in the journal Palliative Medicine, the experts added that while home deaths increased among over-85s, from 17,122 in 2004 to 23,705 in 2010, this age group was the least likely to die at home of any adult age range over the study period.
