Call for Votes to Help Win £50,000

St Richard’s Hospice has been shortlisted by the national Great British Switch campaign as one of six local charities in with the chance of being awarded £50,000 this weekend, Friday 12th – Sunday 14th September.

The Great British Switch campaign by comparethemarket.com is giving one local charity the reward as part of its work with Neighbourhood Watch to help build stronger neighbourhoods.

The campaign is encouraging people to visit comparethemarket.com/greatbritishswitchbetween Friday 12th – Sunday 14th September to see if they could save on their home insurance and vote for the local charity they think should be awarded the £50,000.

St Richard’s Hospice Care Director, June Patel, said: “We are delighted to be nominated and would love our supporters to pull out all the stops for the final vote.

“Being awarded £50,000 would make such a huge difference to caring for our patients and their loved ones – for instance it could pay for 120 bed days in our newly extended In-patient Unit where we offer free specialist care, compassion, love, hugs and a home from home atmosphere.”

The Great British Switch campaign received over 1,400 nominations for deserving local charities from the public, shared on Twitter using the hashtag #greatbritishswitch.

A panel of esteemed judges, including TV presenter Phil Spencer, went on to select the top six local charities, based on the amount of votes received and the reasons given for the nominations.
