Team completes tough Three Peaks Challenge

An intrepid team of 12 scaled the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland to raise more than £10,800 for St Richard’s Hospice.

The group, whose members work at insurance companies Hiscox and the Worcester branch of Marsh Commercial, tackled Ben Nevis, Scotland and Scafell Pike in the Lake District – before finishing at Snowdon, Wales.

The challenge took just over 24-hours to complete, with the team walking around 23 miles, ascending a total of more than 3,000 metres and completing half a day’s travelling between the mountains.

Ben Dale, Senior Account Executive at Marsh Commercial, said: “Everyone is overwhelmed as to the final figure we managed to raise.

“It was beyond all our expectations and we are so pleased and proud that we have been able to raise and contribute that sum of money to the hospice. It was worth every step.”

The team completed the trek last summer, with the final fundraising total announced towards the end of 2019.

The funds raised by the Marsh Commercial-Hiscox team will help the Worcestershire hospice continue caring for patients with serious, progressive illnesses, their loved ones and bereaved people.

Alison Parkes, Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We are absolutely blown away by the fantastic effort of this team – both in completing such a tough challenge and in raising an incredible amount for our care.

“From everyone here at St Richard’s, a huge thank you to each team member for supporting us in such spectacular style!”
