Women's cancer group courses start

The Snowdrop Group is for younger women who have undergone initial treatment for cancer within the last two years and have no known secondary disease. The group aims to provide structured specialist and peer group support to tackle the many complex issues that may result from a diagnosis of cancer, such as:

  • Coping with cancer and longer term side effects of treatment
  • Managing family concerns
  • Fertility issues
  • Body image and self esteem
  • Financial and work related issues

Looking to the future – what happens next?

It is often when treatment has finished that wider issues emerge and give concern. This may coincide with a greater feeling of isolation as regular contact with health care professionals and fellow patients disappear. The Snowdrop Group is specifically designed to start at the end of treatment, allowing time to explore what has happened and enabling the group members to move on.

The group meets once a week in the evening, and offers a range of complementary therapies, visiting specialist speakers (make up specialists, hairdressing advisors, special clothing advisors) who alongside the specialist team provide time for questions, one to one support or just the opportunity to chat.
