St Richard's depends on volunteers in almost all of its work to fulfil its goal of providing free care to patients and support to their families.
- We are flexible and happy for people to volunteer on a regular or occasional basis
- We have many different roles (see Join our volunteer team) reflecting volunteers' individual skills, interests and availability.
- The Hospice is open 365 days a year, with volunteers helping at some time each day or week.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following departments:
We have volunteering opportunities available at St. Richard's Hospice for counselling students who are looking for voluntary placements and for qualified counsellors who are trained to at least level 5.
Student Placement (Voluntary) we are offering placements for students who are currently studying on a recognised course for a counselling qualification.
Qualified Counsellors (Voluntary) We are looking for qualified counsellors who are trained to at least level 5 and are BACP accredited or equivalent or working towards this qualification, which will need to be evidenced. You will need to have sufficient time available to see a minimum of 2 clients for one-to-one counselling sessions per week. Experience of working with bereaved clients is preferable but not essential as training can be provided.
Due to the specialist nature of this client work, the recruitment of students and counsellors will be a carefully assessed process.

Qualified Complementary Therapists
We are looking for volunteers who are qualified in the following complementary therapies – Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Reiki, Shiatsu, Relaxation and Visualisation techniques.
Volunteer Complementary Therapists need to be members of their appropriate professional body, be fully insured and have 3 to 5 years practical experience.
We ask that our volunteers commit to work at least one session fortnightly. Sessions are roughly broken down as follows: 9.30 – 1.30 / 1.30 – 5.30 / or an evening.
Due to the specialist nature of this work, you will be required to submit to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
St Richard’s Hospice Community Volunteers is a scheme being launched to help those who have life threatening illnesses and who want to remain at home. It will provide practical help and in turn allow them to spend quality time with their friends and family. Drivers. We are currently in need of additional car drivers and minibus drivers to transport patients to and from the Day Hospice.
Minibus Escorts. There is an urgent need for people to accompany the minibus drivers to bring in patients for the Day Hospice. What is required is to assist them to the minibus; help them settle in the bus; help them during the journey if required and to assist with them into the Hospice. While a regular commitment would be best, being able to provide occasional help would also be very valuable. Why not accompany a minibus to help make up your mind?
We are looking for volunteers to work in the laundry at the Hospice.
We have a need for more help at the Warehouse. Areas of work include:
Admin – reception, Ebay, cleaning, Gift Aid
Sorting donations – clothing, books, bric-brac, paintings, toys.
Selection of goods for shops.

There is a need for additional help in all the St Richard's charity shops .
The basement in the new Evesham Shop has been turned into a vast bookstore known as the Book Cellar and holds over six thousand books. Volunteers are needed to help with the sorting, pricing and display of these books.
In the Droitwich shop there is a specific need, to work on the till and sorting goods on the following shifts: Tues 1 to 5; Wed 9 to 1 or 1 to 5; Fri 1 to 5 and Sat 9 to 1 or 1 to 5.
