Hospice at Home Health Care Assistant (Job Reference No: 21515)
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
We are currently seeking to recruit a full time Health Care Assistant working predominantly within the community. The post holder is required to provide nursing care and support to patients and carers, working independently in patient’s homes as well as in our In Patient Unit. The post involves predominantly lone working and flexibility is required to work 12 hour shifts with a combination of days, nights and weekends on a rolling shift pattern.
The Health Care Assistant will liaise closely with all other agencies involved in the care of patients with life threatening illnesses and must have the ability to build and maintain good relationships with patients, families, colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team. Team members will be trained and supported by St Richard’s Hospice.
Individuals will need to demonstrate their ability to work both alone and as a member of a team and have a flexible approach to the variety of jobs they will need to undertake. Previous demonstrable experience of working within a care environment is essential and palliative care and community experience would be desirable. Applicants should have a minimum Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification and be willing to work towards Level 3.

Starting Salary £17,000 p.a. increasing to £19,000 on completion of training. No unsocial hours are payable for this post.
