St Richard’s Hospice Care Director, June Patel, said: “We are delighted to be nominated and would love our supporters to pull out all the stops for the final vote.

“Being awarded £50,000 would make such a huge difference to caring for our patients and their loved ones – for instance it could pay for 120 bed days in our newly extended In-patient Unit where we offer free specialist care, compassion, love, hugs and a home from home atmosphere.”

Helen Phipps, Head of HomeInsurance forcomparethemarket.com said: “St Richard’s Hospice offers such valuable support to its local community; we are delighted it has made it to the final six.

“All of the charities involved in the Great British Switch weekend will need the support of their communities and the wider Great British public – the charity with the most public votes by midnight on Sunday 14th September will be awarded £50.000.”

The Great British Switch campaign received over 1,400 nominations for deserving local charities from the public, shared on Twitter using the hashtag #greatbritishswitch.

A panel of esteemed judges, including TV presenter Phil Spencer, went on to select the top six local charities, based on the amount of votes received and the reasons given for the nominations.
