Crowds go colour crazy at Rainbow Run

Hundreds of colour fans turned out to go colour crazy at the Worcestershire hospices Rainbow Run.

Over 640 people turned out to be showered in an explosion of coloured powder as they ran or walked a 5km course around Top Barn Activity Centre on Sunday 6th September.

The successful event was a collaboration between the three Worcestershire hospices; St Richard’s Hospice, Primrose Hospice and KEMP Hospice.

Organisers at St Richard’s Hospice hope the event will raise over £20,000 to help the hospice offer compassionate care and support to patients with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Sam Turner, Sales Director at Worcester based corporate clothing and merchandising firm Fire Label, took part in the event with nine other colleagues. He said; “Running the Rainbow Run for St Richard’s Hospice was a fantastic event that we all took part in. St Richard’s Hospice does amazing work in the local area and I know it is a cause that the entire team was keen to be involved with. Not only were we raising money for a fantastic cause we also had a great time. What more could you want to start your Sunday?”

Jodi Brandwood, Community Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said; “It was a brilliant and memorable day. The sun shone and everyone had a great time. This is the first time the three hospices have come together to organise an event and this has proved what a success a joint effort can be. We are very grateful to all those who took part, our volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly and our sponsor and business supporters.”

The Rainbow Run was kindly supported by local businesses Tesco St Peter’s, Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing and Keystones Cocktail Club, who manned paint stations around the route, alongside the St Johns Clangers Bell Ringers. Entertainment on the day was kindly provided by Jamie from Youth Comm Radio and Irene Surridge who ran the warm up session. The entertainment trailer was kindly supplied by M Pinches & Sons and marshalling by RAYNET.
