Worcester’s Big Parade – Auction Event
14th October 2021
Following an eight-week art trail in Worcester city centre throughout the summer, we invite you to join us for the grand finale as we auction all 30 large elephant sculptures, plus one special Spark-Ele Baby.
Join Philip Serrell, our auctioneer, best known for appearing on TV shows such as Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, as we raise vital funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
Hosted at DRPG in Hartlebury on 14th October, you can join us on the night or watch the live-stream from the comfort of your sofa. Tickets to attend are limited.
The reserve for each elephant sculpture is expected to start from £3,000, so be prepared for some competitive bidding! Previously the giraffe sculptures sold for between £4,000 and £15,000 each.

Worcester’s Big Parade builds on the hugely successful Worcester Stands Tall giraffe trail in 2018, which saw giraffe sculptures displayed across the city before raising £210,000 for St Richard’s at auction. Thursday 14 October 2021 at drp Group, Ikon Estate, 212 Droitwich Rd, Hartlebury. DY10 4EU.
Registration begins at 5:45pm with a drinks reception and food. The auction will start promptly at 7pm and we expect to finish at approximately 10pm.

The safety of our visitors, partners and team is at the heart of our planning. On arrival at the studios for the Worcester’s Big Parade Auction, DRPG request that you provide one of the following as proof of COVID-19 Status identification to enter their studios:
If you do not have a valid proof then the DRPG onsite assessment centre will be open, where they can offer 15 minute lateral flow tests by their trained team.
Online, telephone and commission bidding will be available. Alternatively the event will be streamed live. Click on the relevant link below.

If you are unable to attend the auction or prefer to bid in private, you can place your bids on the night via the Online Auction. You must register in advance to be able to bid on the night by registering below. Applications for Online Bidding closes at 6:30pm on Thursday 14th October 2021.

Useful Information and Documents
The reserve for each elephant sculpture is expected to start from £3,000, so be prepared for some competitive bidding! Previously the giraffe sculptures sold for between £4,000 and £15,000 each, however, prices realised could be higher and we expect popular sculptures to raise a significant amount the hospice.
Payment is due immediately after the sale. Payment can be made by Visa and MasterCard. Proof of ID will be required. Alternatively we can issue an invoice, for bank transfer and cheque payments. Sculptures will not be released until payment has cleared.
The auction is a fundraising event for St Richard’s Hospice. There will be no VAT added to the auction value of each elephant. There is also no buyer’s premium.
You will have until 28 October to collect your sculpture. Details for this will be on your buyers invoice. A local courier will be present at the event to make arrangements for delivery.
Standard Giant Elephants: H1600mm x L2150mm x W800mm – weight 40kg
There is one mosaic elephant, clad in glass, tiles and mirrors; We are the Music Makers, which weighs 160kg
There is only one elephant calf for auction; Spark-Ele: H730mm x L1060mm x W410mm – weight 50kg
The elephants are made from a mixture of class II fire retardant laminating resin and chopped roving fibreglass over an initial brushed-on layer of gel coat.
The elephants have been outside on the trail for 8 weeks. They are happy being inside or outside, but may require annual maintenance to keep the paintwork/finish in good condition if kept outside,
You can buy a concrete plinth separately for a minimum donation of £200. The plinths are H220 x L1600 x W1000, weighing approx. 750kg. You will have to arrange collection from a Worcestershire location by prior arrangement. Contact Tricia Cavell to arrange.
All sculptures are covered by St Richard’s Hospice insurance whilst they are being held at drp Group (auction venue). On collection or after 28th October (whichever is first) you are responsible for any insurance.
St Richard’s Hospice hopes the auction will be a huge success. The Worcester Stands Tall giraffe auction in 2018 raised £210,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.
The funds raised by Worcester’s Big Parade will help to fund the care provided by St Richard’s Hospice to patients with serious, progressive illnesses, their loved ones, and bereaved people across Worcestershire. The hospice relies on the support of the community for the majority of its income, with 20 per cent funded by the NHS.
