Virtual quiz night success for hospice

TEAMS from as far afield as New York and Vietnam took part in a hospice’s first virtual quiz – helping raise more than £1,500 for its care.

St Richard’s Hospice held its Big Virtual Quiz on Saturday, April 11, and saw 62 teams take part, with £1,530 raised to help continue its caring services.

The family-friendly quiz was hosted by Richard ‘Hursty’ Hurst and saw teams take part from their homes, via video conferencing website Zoom.

The second 10-round quiz will be held from 5pm on Saturday, April 25 – with participating teams entered into a draw to win a family pizza meal deal.

Kelly Johns, fundraiser at St Richard’s, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed our first virtual quiz night, and were thrilled to be joined by so many for a fun evening of quizzing with our fabulous host, Hursty.

“While we’re all staying home to stay safe, we hope our quiz nights can be a way to keep the family entertained – while helping us raise money to continue caring for patients and loved ones.

“We hope you can join us for our next quiz – get your thinking caps on now!”

Quiz rounds include general knowledge, music, a dedicated round for younger players – and more.

All teams need to take part is some paper, pens, and a device with internet access – such as a tablet, laptop, or phone.

The hospice is asking all quiz participants to continue following Government advice on social distancing, and for teams to be from the same household.

Entry to the quiz is £20 for a team of up to five people. To sign up for the next quiz, visit www.strichards.org.uk/event/the-big-virtual-quiz
