A stunning 10 mile guided walk around the beautiful waterfalls of Ystradfellte area, Wales.

You’ll pass eight impressive waterfalls and several smaller falls in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Please note this is a challenging trek!

Join us for a socially distanced walk either individually, with your household or bubble for the 10 mile challenge, taking in the breathtaking scenery and waterfalls along the way.

Transport (within Covid safety guidelines) is included from St Richard’s Hospice 6.00am (tbc) to the start of the walk and return back to St Richard’s Hospice afterwards. (Parking is available for all at St Richard’s Hospice)

Upon arrival we will be met by our fabulous guides from JT Expeditions, where you will be put into groups of 20 (social distancing rules apply). The walk will commence at around 9.00am (tbc).



£35.00 admin fee to include transport.
We would be grateful to all supporters who pledge to raise at least £100 in support of our care.

How your fundraising helps

We have set a fundraising target per walker of £100 but you can raise as much as you like, as it will all go towards the millions required this year to help us continue to provide the free services to those who need it. To give you some idea of how you will help support patients and families across Worcestershire…

  • £15.63 could pay for a specialist Living Well Centre Nurse for an hour*.
  • £90.26 could pay for a Hospice at Home Healthcare Assistant for a day.
  • £174.01 could pay for a trained therapist for a day*.
  • £550 could provide creative therapy materials for a year, offering an outlet for patients to express their emotions.

*20/21 costs including all on-costs

  • Terrain
  • This is a 10 mile guided walk around the eight waterfalls in the Ystradfelltte area of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Waterfalls Walk is a 10 mile walk over rough and broken ground, which includes steep sections, rocky sections, single track pathways and slip/trip hazards along to route.

    The walk is not suitable for pushchairs or wheel chairs.

  • Group sizes and age limits
  • Supporters will be split into teams of 20 approx., each with one qualified mountain leader. An Event Manager will be also available who is also a qualified mountain leader. (Social distance rules.

    Minimum age 15 years, must be accompanied by parent/guardian/adult over the age of 18 years.

  • Equipment
  • Water proofs, sturdy walking boots, layers, food, drink and personal medication. It can be cold in the valleys and under tree cover even on good weather so warm layers are essential. A
    specific kit list will be drawn up and issued prior to the event to each supporter.

  • Toilets
  • There will be toilets available before getting on the coach at St Richard’s Hospice. There will a toilet available on the coach and at the beginning of the walk. (Depending on current Covid rules the toilets will not be open on the coach. If this is the case we will offer a scheduled stop for a quick toilet break en-route).

    Please note there will be no toilets throughout the walk.

  • What time shall I arrive?
  • We advise a minimum of 15 minutes at St Richard’s Hospice before the start time, so you can park, register and take your seat on the coach. Anyone missing the start time will lose their right to take part. We will advise you of the exact departure time in due course.

  • Transport
  • A coach will be provided and is included in your registration fee. The coach will depart from St Richard’s Hospice Wildwood Drive WR5 2QT at 6.30am and return approx. 8.00pm – TBC times.

    You will be required to wear a facemask on the coach at all times. Hand sanitiser will be available. Currently no food or drink to be consumed on the journey. (All Covid rules subject to change).

    We accept no responsibility for items left unattended on the coach.

  • Parking
  • You will be able to park your car for free at St Richard’s Hospice, please car share where possible as places are limited.

  • What do we get upon completing the walk?
  • Every participant will receive a certificate of thanks. Water will be available at the start and end.

  • Is there first aid available?
  • Yes each mountaineer is a qualified first aider who will be leading each group.

  • Can I take a mobile phone or camera on the walk?
  • Yes please, we encourage supporters to take photos and post on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

  • Am I allowed to bring or use alcohol at the event?
  • Alcohol must not be consumed before or during the event or any alcohol brought on site. Anyone under the influence of alcohol/drugs will be asked to leave and cannot take part in the

  • Do I need to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice
  • We ask you to pledge to raise £100 or more to help fund our free specialist care and support our patients and families across Worcestershire. The fundraising team can support you to raise as much sponsorship as possible. You can set up a just giving page and we also have a paperbased sponsorship form available for you to download and print.

  • Can I take part and raise money for another charity?
  • No this event is an organised and paid for by St Richard’s Hospice.

  • Can I participate if I am pregnant or have any health issues?
  • If you are pregnant or have health issues, we recommend you consult your doctor before taking part in the Waterfalls walk. Although we try and make the event as safe as possible there is
    always the possibility of unforeseen incidents and risks. The JT Expeditions medical questionnaire must be completed. JT Expeditions will determine suitability and refuse the right to take part on medical grounds.

  • What’s the refund policy?
  • This event is non-refundable.

  • Cancellation
  • St Richard’s Hospice reserve the right to cancel the event, if there are severe weather warnings in place or Covid rules put into place that do not allow the event to go ahead. JT Expeditions will arrange for a revised date for the challenge to take place and all supporters will be advised accordingly.
