St Richard’s Hospice has welcomed a new community fundraising specialist to support the charity’s work caring for people at the end of their lives.
Following a number of changes within its fundraising team, Charlie Homer, former Mayor of Evesham, was recently welcomed into the hospice as its newest Community Fundraiser.
Charlie has a wealth of fundraising experience, having previously worked for Goodwill & Growth, a charity based in Warwickshire that supports children and communities affected by HIV – AIDS, poverty and violence in Africa. He also has strong links with the local community, is a Trustee for Ourside Youth Association in Evesham, and is an active supporter of many other local charitable organisations.
His new role will further extend St Richard’s Hospice’s networks within the community, particularly within the Evesham area, and he will work to encourage supporters to join the hospice’s regular giving scheme. Regular donations are an important source of funding for the charity and help the hospice to plan for the future with confidence.
Charlie, who lives in Evesham, is also active in local politics, currently serving as District Councillor for Harvington & Norton Ward, Wychavon District Council, and Evesham Town Councillor. When elected to Wychavon District Council in 2011 he was the youngest councillor ever elected. He was also the second youngest ever Mayor of Evesham, holding this post from May 2014 until May 2015.

I am looking forward to raising awareness within the local community of the important work done by the hospice’s care teams and to encourage local people and businesses to support the hospice so that it can continue to provide compassionate care to patients and their loved ones.”
