Do you have a Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, experience of working in a relevant therapeutic environment and excellent communication skills? If so, you may be the person we are looking for to join our team.
We have an exciting opportunity for a caring, compassionate and committed professional to join us as a Therapy Support Assistant. St. Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative and end of life care for adults from the age of 18 in South Worcestershire with a serious progressive illness through our community teams, in our newly developed state-of-the-art Living Well Centre and our seventeen beds. We offer care and encouragement to our patients, enabling them to take control of their lives as their condition changes and also offer support to their families and carers.
The post holder will support the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams, independently delivering interventions and programmes to support the rehabilitative approach to care and support of patients requiring palliative care and evaluating progress against set outcome measures. A key element of this role is to lead therapeutic group work and drop in sessions to enable patients to maintain their independence and quality of life. Services will be provided virtually or face-to-face either in the Living Well Centre, In-Patient Unit or within patient’s homes, on occasions, depending on the patients’ needs.
As part of Build 2020, the Hospice now has a bigger, multi-purpose space, which will allow a wider choice of activities to be offered such as sessions to cope with breathlessness and fatigue; exercise-based groups and creative and music therapies; which can increase confidence and independence; relieve symptoms; reduce stress, anxiety and depression and improve sleep.
At St. Richard’s, we provide further training and development opportunities and clinical supervision. The successful candidate will receive day-to-day managerial and professional support from a team of experienced Palliative Care Therapists.
This post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
