Lloyds Bank Award for Hospice

St Richard’s Hospice is delighted to have been awarded £3,000 from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014 after residents in Worcester voted for the local charity in their thousands.

Worcester residents voted for their charity of choice in their Lloyds Bank branch or by voting online. The funds will help St Richard’s provide its Hospice at Home service to patients who wish to remain at home at the end of their life.

St Richard’s Hospice has been providing free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supported their families for 30 years. The majority of that care has been provided through the generous financial support of local residents and business community.

The Community Fund grant will help the hospice to continue to offer compassionate care to patients and their loved ones. The Hospice at Home service provides additional support to enable patients to remain in their own home, providing physical and emotional care to patients and their families.

Mark Jackson, St Richard’s Hospice Chief Executive, said; “This award from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund will help us continue to offer specialist compassionate care for patients at home and support their family members. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for St Richard’s Hospice either in their local branch or online.”

Calum Best, Branch Manager at Lloyds Bank, St Johns said, “We became aware of the work that St Richard’s Hospice do for the local community when a colleague of ours was being cared by them before his death, and we are very pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile cause. We would like to thank all our customers who took part in the awards this year. The other charities in Worcester that will also benefit from the Community Fund 2014 are 1st Worcester Scouts Group who have been awarded £2,000, Worcester Scouts Explorer Unit, £1,000 and 3rd Worcester Scout Group, £500.”
