Making dreams come true

In her final days being cared for by St Richard’s we were privileged to help Lesley achieve her heartfelt wishes of seeing her grandchildren play in the snow and holding newborn lambs. Her family have asked us to share these precious moments to inspire others to support hospice care. Her daughter Zena said, ‘My Mum felt incredibly lucky and blessed to be able to spend the last few weeks of her life at St Richard’s, everything went beyond anything she could wish for. The doctors and nurses were all so supportive and caring, they wanted to ensure above all she felt in control and was as comfortable as she could be. She loved to watch the ducks and birds through the carefully placed window at her bed height, it was her little piece of heaven where she felt at peace, safe and, as she said ‘treated like royalty.’ All of the staff at St Richard’s put their hearts and soul in to ensuring the people close to you are cared for above and beyond any expectations you may have, they actively go not just a extra mile but as far as they can to achieve the very best of care.’

Zena has set up a donation page in memory of her mum, filmed here in these precious moments, to help fund hospice care in the future. You can donate by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lesleyjay
