image living wellWhat are Living Well courses?

Our free Living Well courses are designed for people with a life-limiting illness to help them feel good, boost confidence and increase independence through therapies, creativity, relaxation, exercise, education and group support. They are open – following an assessment – to those with a life-limiting condition such as cancer, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease.

The courses take place on Fridays and are designed to be flexible and offer people the opportunity to benefit from a range of activities to suit them. The Living Well courses are a new initiative and will initially be open to existing St Richard’s patients during the pilot scheme.

Courses on offer

Coping with illness: 6 – 8 week course

Relaxation: 6 week course

Fatigue Management: 4 week course

Adapted Tai Chi: 6 week course

Managing your breathlessness: 5 week course

Sharing stories: 5 week course

Arts and crafts: 4 week course

Spiritual care:  7 week course

Complementary Therapies: Appointments subject to availability

Our Living Well courses are co-ordinated and run by a wide range of hospice staff with support from trained volunteers. If appropriate you may be referred to other hospice services. Please contact a healthcare professional to be referred to the Living Well courses. If you have any questions please contact the Living Well Team on 01905 63963 ext 2042.

We are unable to provide transport for the Living Well sessions. We do have a free car park and are easily reached by a regular bus service.
