St Richard’s Hospice is based in a light and modern building set within lovely gardens and grounds. The hospice was opened in 2006 thanks to donors and supporters raising the funds required. Since then, the hospice has continued to expand to care for more patients and families.
The £5.3m Build 2020 project to grow hospice care in Worcestershire was completed in March 2021.
We care for the majority of patients in their own homes.
The In-patient Unit based at the hospice in Wildwood Drive, offers free specialist palliative care.
The Living Well Centre at St Richard’s hosts a variety of sessions, groups and activities in a relaxed and supportive environment. Since the pandemic, Living Well services have temporarily switched to a virtual model, offering support remotely, for example via video calls, telephone, virtual clinics, etc. There is an option of face-to-face or virtual care for patients attending the Therapeutic Programme.
The Snowdrop Centre has a number of rooms for family support including counselling, social work, bereavement support and group work. Due to the coronavirus pandemic virtual and telephone support for all Family Support services continues and face-to-face support is assessed on an individual basis.
Safety
In the context of the Savile Recommendations St Richard’s recognises the need to ensure there is no risk to the safety and security of patients and staff arising from visits by celebrities, VIPs and other official visitors.
The organiser will be responsible for ensuring the visitor is accompanied at all times when they are in contact with patients/families/staff/the general public. All St Richard’s Policies and Procedures, including our Safeguarding Policy apply to everyone visiting the hospice to ensure a safe environment.
