Shining a light on bereavement services

To mark National Grief Awareness Week we are shining a spotlight on our bereavement support services.

We know being able to voice difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences in a safe environment, with someone who is not personally involved can make a huge difference to someone who is bereaved.

Our Family Support Team offers two bereavement services:

  • Support for those whose loved ones have been cared for by the hospice and,
  • Bereavement Support South Worcestershire (BSSW) for those bereaved by sudden, traumatic and unexpected death in south Worcestershire

‘Your family support team were simply amazing when we lost my Dad last year after a short battle with cancer.  It is no exaggeration to say that I owe my own mental health and wellbeing to the wonderful counsellor who helped me to come to terms with our loss through the sessions we shared.   Keep up your amazing work.’

Since April 2019, the Family Support Team has made more than 5,000 bereavement contacts (visits, one-to-one sessions, phone calls and letters) totalling more than 2,000 hours.
