Are you interested in volunteering? Do you have a driving licence and access to a car? If you have answered yes to both of these questions, then your help could be invaluable to our patients.
The Family Support Team offers a wide range of help to patients, their families and carers including counselling, a bereavement service, social work, citizen’s advice, and group support.
We are currently recruiting for volunteer drivers to bring clients to and from our Carers Café and Steps groups.
By attending these groups, people can talk to others who have been going through a similar situation, which many find can be extremely supportive.
Patients also benefit through knowing that their families are being supported. In essence, it is about supporting a family before somebody dies and as they move into bereavement. Help can be offered on many levels and is dependent on what is needed.
Your help can make a difference.
Here’s some of the feedback we receive about our Family Support Service:
“I’m doing well because of St. Richard’s”
“Don’t know what the outcome would have been had this not have been here. Certainly wouldn’t be where I am today had it not been for the support from this establishment”
“The Family Support at St. Richard’s is a huge safety net”
“St. Richard’s brings hope to people in a very sad environment”
“We had the worst time of our life at St. Richard’s but we’ve also had some of the best times of our life here”
“It’s hard to put into words what St. Richard’s has given us as a family. The Family Support team has given me the confidence and freedom to support my children in the way I knew was right for us a family. They kind of almost gave me the permission to be the mother I needed to be”
“St. Richard’s is a remarkable place”
