St. Richard’s Hospice is looking for volunteers to assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the hospice building and grounds.
The maintenance role sits within the Facilities Department which supports the clinical teams and patients by ensuring the building functions efficiently and is welcoming for everyone. We provide reception services, housekeeping and catering as well as ensuring the security of the premises.
This role is to support the maintenance team with a variety of tasks such as:
Compliance checks on equipment and systems, such as emergency lighting, fire equipment, water systems etc.
Accepting deliveries into the hospice and taking them to departments
Small repairs and decoration works
General upkeep of the building and grounds, including caretaker type jobs
Vehicle safety checks, cleaning and fuelling our two minibuses and small van
Occasional driving making deliveries to the hospital or to St. Richard’s shops.
This is a varied role which involves contact with many people, including staff, patients and other volunteers.
Physical fitness and good communication skills are essential for this role. Previous experience in a maintenance role and/ or good DIY skills would be beneficial.
It would be helpful to have a weekly commitment but we can be flexible.
