Walk the Worcestershire Way for charity

An event organised by St Richard’s Hospice offers the opportunity to walk the whole of the Worcestershire way in a day to support hospice care across the county.

Many keen walkers have already signed up for this year’s Worcestershire Way Walk and, either individually or as a team, will be taking on the challenging 31 mile dawn ‘til dusk trek in aid of the local hospice.

This year’s challenge will be held on Friday 17th June. The walk begins at 6am in Bewdley and walkers will stride out across the most wonderful Worcestershire countryside before a tough finish on the slopes of the Malvern Hills.

Alison Parkes, Senior Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said; “This event has been running now for 11 years and is always very popular. Some of our dedicated supporters take on the Worcestershire Way challenge year after year and there is always a great team spirit and camaraderie. This isn’t an event for the faint hearted, and we certainly recommend some training beforehand.

She added; “Many people take on this challenge in memory of someone special, as a way of saying thank you for the hospice care they received. But often at the end of the walk they realise that they have achieved something fantastic for themselves too.”

The event costs just £10 to enter but relies on sponsorship and donations to be successful. The money raised will help St Richard’s Hospice continue to care for patients at the end of their lives, and support their families.

The event is kindly sponsored by Carisson Properties Ltd.
