HUNDREDS turned out to help illuminate the night sky at a hospice charity’s sixth annual memory walk near Worcester last weekend.
St Richard’s Hospice’s sold-out Lantern Walk saw more than 400 people walk a 1.5-mile route around the National Trust’s Croome Court at dusk on Saturday, February 10.
Carrying glowing lanterns, participants walked to remember their loved ones, while raising £7,438, after costs, for St Richard’s Hospice.
Sofia Gunster, Events and Community Fundraising Lead at St Richard’s, organised the Lantern Walk.
She said: “We had a beautiful evening remembering our loved ones and enjoying the stunning parkland gently lit by lanterns.
“It was wonderful to see so many people attend this year’s event and we are blown away by the amount raised.
“Every penny will help us continue to provide our care for free to people with serious, progressive illnesses and their loved ones.”
Alongside the walk, there was music on the evening performed by singer Hannah Mac, and attendees could leave messages for loved ones on a Memory Tree in the Temple Green House.
Sections of the route were illuminated with colourful lights, and paddleboarders from Bonkers Activities, Pershore, wore light-up wings to create a twinkling display on the lake.
