Jane Nicol

Jane’s teaching interests and expertise are in palliative and end-of-life care and the care and management of long-term conditions.

During her career she has worked across a range of clinical settings, both in primary and secondary care, this has enabled her to develop a broad knowledge and skill base.

Jane has previously taught pre-registration nursing students, and other healthcare students at the University of Worcester and the University of Birmingham. 

Jane joined St Richard’s Hospice in 2023 and is excited about the opportunities in supporting staff and volunteers to flourish.

Jane has a keen interest in the use of the arts in healthcare education and has developed in partnership with the Barber Institute of Fine Arts Memento Mori: an arts-based workshop exploring death and dying.

She is also involved in other projects exploring the use of drama and graphic novels to explore aspects of palliative and end-of-life care. 

Jane is a published author with Sage publishing and has recently had the fourth edition of Nursing Adults with Long-Term Conditions published.
