Penguin Plunge

Saturday, 30 March 2024

We’re excited to bring you this ‘cool’ new event for 2024, channel your inner penguin and plunge yourself into cold water, for a cold water swim at Lenches Lakes, Evesham. With a waddle of penguins coming to the streets of Worcester this summer, we can’t wait to see your flippers in action.

It has been found that cold water can build mental resilience, raise your mood, boost your energy, strengthen your immune system and reduce anxiety and has therefore become a popular trend.

Included in your registration is a bespoke Penguin Plunge swim cap which you will need to wear whilst in the water and will be given to you before your swim. Tow floats must also be worn in the water, these can be borrowed from the Lenches Lakes but are limited.

Before your plunge, you will receive a full safety briefing from the Lenches Lakes staff on what to expect as you enter the cold water.

On completion you will be treated to a hot drink and brunch bap – you’ll be feeling peckish after your plunge!

Important notes:
• You must complete and accept the Medical Declaration and Disclaimer Form when completing your registration.
• You will need to declare any medical facts, which may affect your participation and provide an emergency contact.
• The Penguin Plunge for St Richard’s Hospice is undertaken at your own risk.
• All participants must be over 18 years of age.
• It’s recommended that those partaking in cold water events are physically fit and in good health. If you have a history of heart disease or suffer from asthma or any other health conditions, we recommend that you obtain a doctor’s approval before participating in a cold-water event.

Please review our Penguin Plunge FAQs and Swimmers declaration if you wish to take part in this event.
