Hospices join forces for Big Get Together

Hospices across Worcestershire have joined forces to host two sophisticated social events in support of a national charity campaign.

St Richard’s Hospice, KEMP Hospice and Primrose Hospice have organised a corporate breakfast and lunch at the Chateau Impney, near Droitwich, during Hospice Care Week this October.

Each event features a famous guest speaker and is part of The Big Get Together – a campaign which encourages friends, families and colleagues to hold fundraising events for local hospice care.

Alice Brunt, Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester, said: “It’s a pleasure to work with KEMP and Primrose on this exciting project.

“It’s fun to help each other and promote the free, compassionate care provided by our hospices, which really is what the Big Get Together is all about.”

The first event, a corporate breakfast, will take place on Tuesday 10th October at 8am. Television presenter and lawyer Margaret Mountford will be attending as speaker and will hold a Q&A session after breakfast.

The lunch will be held on Thursday 12th October at 1pm. Following a two-course meal, Philip Serrell – auctioneer and television personality, who regularly appears on shows such as Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and Flog It! – will give a talk.

Cathy Sloan, Head of Fundraising at KEMP Hospice in the Wyre Forest, said: “I am proud to be working with colleagues at our county’s hospices raising much needed funds to ensure that our patients are treated with dignity, are given choices about their care and that we are able to help them access services to improve their quality of life.”

Kate Kelly, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove, said: “The team at Primrose are delighted to be working alongside their Hospice counterparts across Worcestershire on this joint initiative.

“Each event is aimed at different audiences and gives the community the opportunity to attend a great get together with a fabulous guest speaker in an amazing venue, while supporting their local hospices.”

Money raised from each event will be split evenly between the three hospices which together cared for more than 4,638 patients, their families and bereaved people free of charge last year.

Hospice Care Week runs from Monday 9th October to Sunday 15th October, however Big Get Together events can be held throughout the year.
