Chance to volunteer at new hospice shop

Community-spirited members of the public are being invited to volunteer at a new St Richard’s Hospice shop.

The premises, spanning two floors, can be found at 17-18 High Street in Kidderminster and is due to throw open its doors to the public during the second week of October.

Volunteers are needed to staff the new store – which will soon be filled with an assortment of high-quality, second-hand goods.

A volunteer recruitment event will be held at the shop on Tuesday, 19th September from 1pm to 4pm for anyone who would like to find out more.

DSC07910Kirstie Smith, St Richard’s Staff and Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator, said: “Volunteering in our shops can be an extremely varied and rewarding experience as there is a whole range of areas to work in – from manning the till to creating eye-catching window displays and sorting and pricing the many donations.

“For many volunteers, the experience they gain working in the hospice’s shops benefits them in the long-term – with previous volunteers going on to secure permanent work in the retail sector with skills learned as a volunteer.

“Volunteering in our new Kidderminster shop is also a great chance to be part of something new from its beginnings – so why not come along to our event on Tuesday and find out more?”

Along with clothing, varied bric-a-brac, CDs, DVDs and more – the shop will boast an impressive collection of around 12,000 books for literature-lovers to browse.

The beautifully fitted St Richard’s shop in Kidderminster is the latest addition to the Worcestershire charity’s growing portfolio of stores. The shop is being refurbished to a high standard and will help regenerate and attract customers to the area.

The premises were carefully chosen for their location in the heart of Kidderminster and will help raise awareness of the charity – which supports patients from the area at its In-patient Unit in Worcester.

There will be a preview evening held at the new shop for members of the public to attend. The date for this event is to be confirmed, however if you would like to be notified please register your interest by emailing
