Brave businessman “excited” for Santa skydive

A brave businessman is preparing to take on a festive skydive challenge in aid of hospice care – dressed as Santa Claus.

Steve Borwell-Fox, director at Malvern-based software company borwell, will jump from 10,000ft, plummeting at 120mph, to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.

The 45-year-old will take part in the group Santa Skydive on Saturday, 9th December at Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield in Northamptonshire.

Mr Borwell-Fox, who is from Worcester, said: “I always like to push myself to try new things, when I came across an article online I jumped at the chance to do it.

“We have always been active supporters of the hospice and this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to not only help raise the profile of the charity even further, but to also to experience something completely new.”

On the day of the challenge, each daredevil Santa will be given training, a free costume and will be harnessed to an instructor for the jump.

After enjoying the breath-taking ride, the festive jumpers will land in front of their cheering friends and family. Taking the plunge alongside Mr Borwell-Fox will be his friend Mike Palmer.

“When my wife and I started our business, we selected St Richard’s Hospice as our chosen charity and have continued to support it over the past 14 past years,” explained Mr Borwell-Fox, whose wife, Andrea, is a hospice Business Patron.

“We appreciate the terrific work and care that the hospice provides. We have a number of friends and business contacts who have used the hospice.

“It’s important to support the hospice as they have supported our friends and contacts.”

St Richard’s has been allocated 10 places for festive daredevils to take part in the Santa Skydive – and there is still time to sign-up.
