Barn dance raises the roof as well as funds

A barn dance held earlier this month has raised more than £3,000 for a local hospice.

The event – which welcomed one of Worcester’s best and liveliest ceilidh bands – was in aid of St Richard’s Hospice.

St Richard’s Hospice welcomed The Whole Caboodle at the June event with the 100 party goers enjoying a fun night of dancing.

The event took place on Saturday 16 June at Churchfields Farm, Droitwich.

Ria Simons, Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice said : “Our barn dance was such a fun event and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests who came along.  It is so heart warming when people attending our events not only raise funds for our care but also have a fabulous time into the bargain!  We would like to thank all those who took part and came along and raising such an impressive amount of money!”

The Whole Caboodle is based in Worcester and play traditional and contemporary folk dance tunes and call dances from all over Britain and beyond. They also have a selection of classic pop hits from the sixties and seventies so that party-goers can have a freestyle bop too.

Tickets included a home-made burger, cheese platter and ice cream.

The event was kindly sponsored by the St Richard’s Hospice Business Patrons.
