Benefits of yoga

One-to-one yoga sessions have made a big difference to the life of Carole, a chef and mum-of-two who is being supported by St Richard’s Hospice. Carole, 55, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer 19 months ago and has been having regular yoga classes with Sally, a St Richard’s social worker and trained yoga for cancer teacher. The classes are currently over video call to follow Covid-19 safety guidance.
“Support from St Richard’s has made my outlook on cancer more positive both mentally and physically, “ said Carole who with her daughters are also receiving counselling from the hospice team.
“My cancer yoga classes have exceeded my expectations and I would not like to be without them in my life at this moment in time.”
Yoga teacher Sally explained, “Yoga is beneficial on so many levels, physical, emotional and psychological. These include, decreased stress and pain, increased well-being, strength, range of motion and energy, as well as helping to reduce anxiety.”
