Teams Rise to Tough Challenge

Businesses rose to a tough challenge in a corporate team building day raising funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

Six teams pitted their wits and physical prowess against each other in the annual hospice Corporate Challenge at Top Barn Activity Centre at Holt, near Worcester.

The event is expected to have raised in the region of £4,000 towards the charity’s work caring for patients with life threatening illnesses and supporting their families.

Teams from Yamazaki Mazak, Kendall Wadley, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, HallmarkHulme Solicitors and  Pendragon Packaging faced up to the survival-themed challenges which included making fires, pots, shelters and rafts as well as shooting.

St Richard’s Hospice Fundraising Manager, Rachel Jones said, “All the teams were up for the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the competition.   Kendall Wadley were the overall winners, just pipping Pendragon Packaging to the post by one point!”

Ms Jones added, “We would also like to say a big thanks to the team at Top Barn Activity Centre for their organisation and to Worcester Bosch for their kind sponsorship.”

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,500 patients and family members in Worcestershire.

Patients are cared for in Day Hospice, the 17-bed In-patient Unit or in their own homes by a specialist professional team as well as many trained volunteers.

In the In-patient Unit specialist staff are on hand 24 hours a day to manage patients’ symptoms and where, if appropriate, patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and dignity. St Richard’s is an independent charity and is grateful for all donations to help them to continue their work.
