Cars for cash initiative supports hospice

Anyone who has a car they no longer need is being asked to consider donating it to St Richard’s Hospice.

The Giveacar scheme will arrange to collect the car for free and will sell it at auction or for scrap, with the proceeds being donated to St Richard’s to help fund compassionate care for patients with life-threatening illnesses and support their families.

The Giveacar scheme is a non-profit social enterprise which collects unwanted and unused cars for charity, turning scrap into cash. St Richard’s Hospice has already benefitted from the sale of dozens of donated cars over the last few years.

Regardless of their condition, cars are collected free of charge nationwide by Giveacar and sold through an online auction, or disposed of at an authorised treatment facility.

Proceeds from the sale of each car will be donated to St Richard’s Hospice to provide hospice care.  Even if the car is scrapped, the hospice still receives approximately £100, depending on the price of scrap metal.

Rachel Jones, Fundraising Manager at St Richard’s Hospice, said; “We have been part of the Giveacar scheme for a couple of years now and supporters who have donated a car have told us they would recommend the scheme to others. If you have a car to sell, or even an old banger you don’t know what to do with, this could be an ideal solution. All proceeds from the sale will be used to help us continue to offer compassionate care to patients and their loved ones.”
