Hospice calls for Scenic Six runners

Energetic runners and walkers are being called upon to enjoy the great Worcestershire outdoors next month.

The event is an annual village fun run and walk around the picturesque village of Peopleton, near Pershore, and will take place on Sunday 23 April.

This popular fundraising event is named ‘Scenic Six’ after the six mile off-road, multi-terrain run which takes place around the fields and footpaths of Peopleton. For those who would like a less strenuous day out, there is an alternative two mile fun run, jog or walk around the village, both starting at 11.00am.

People have already started signing up for the popular and fun event which will be raising money to help St Richard’s Hospice provide specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

Jayne Sargeant, Community Fundraiser at the hospice said: “This is a great family event which is suitable for people of all ages. Last year, more than 260 runners took part, raising more than £3000 to support hospice care. Whether you’re a keen runner or just fancy a nice walk through the countryside, there is a route for everyone.”

Entry costs are £12 for the six mile run, or £15 registration on the day, and £3 for the two mile route, or £5 registration on the day. On the day, a selection of cakes and sandwiches, along with tea and coffee, will be served in the village hall for participants and supporters to enjoy before and after the run.

The event is sponsored by The Crown Inn in the village.
