Children’s author to hold book-signing at hospice shop

A children’s author is set to host a book signing at a hospice’s charity store this half-term.

Johnny ‘Mogs’ Morris, from Stourbridge, will be at the St Richard’s Hospice shop in High Street, Kidderminster, on Saturday, October 26.

Mr Morris’ book Griff, about the adventures of a walking, talking stone dog, and Poems Your Parents Won’t Like will be in stock for visitors to buy.

Ruth Lewis, shops regional manager at St Richard’s, said: “We are really excited to be working with a talented local author and to be able to give everyone the opportunity to meet the creator of Griff.”

The signing will take place from 11am in the store’s extensive book department, which features more than 12,000 titles.

Mr Morris, who published his first book in 2017, said: “I’m extremely grateful St Richard’s Hospice has agreed to sell my books in its shops and I’m looking forward to the book signing event.

“I cannot deny that as an unknown author it is a struggle to get your work read, so getting this kind of support is brilliant. But of course, the most important thing is to raise a bit of money for the charity and make people aware of the work it does.

“But also, it would be great to get kids off their technology and reading books, especially poetry – even if it is mine!”

The hospice’s Kidderminster store can be found at 17-18 High Street and alongside its book department, stocks bric-a-brac, clothing and furniture.
