An Evesham family braved the cold and mud this weekend when they took on the Dirt Run in support of St Richard’s Hospice.
Kellie Sidney and her family faced the Dirt Run challenge head on at The Valley, Evesham, on Sunday 17th January in aid of the hospice which cared for her step-father. Kellie was joined by her partner Tabitha Simms, her daughter Ashleigh Taylor, aged 17, and her son Callum Taylor, aged 12. The family were also joined by friends Chloe Rose, aged 17, and Cameron Kelly, aged 16.
Kenny Stewart, who worked for Evesham windows and conservatories firm E.T.C, was a hard working family man. He was a lifelong Rod Stewart fan and had a passion for classic Jaguars. Before his death last month, aged 55, he was cared for by St Richard’s in its specialist In-patient Unit. The hospice also supported his family during his illness and has since continued to offer bereavement care.
The St Richard’s Hospice Dirt Run is one of a number of new events to be held this year at The Valley in aid of the charity. The family friendly event kicked off with a mass-start, with participants choosing either 5km or 10km run along tracks, trails, woods and paths, with plenty of mud thrown in for good measure. There was also a junior 3km run.
Kelly said; “My step-father Kenny was a husband, brother, dad, granddad, a great-grandad and a great friend to many. During the last two weeks of his life he received excellent care and support in St Richards Hospice’s In-patient Unit and died with his family by his side. We are so grateful for their ongoing care and wanted to do something to help them continue to care for other families in similar situations.”
