Teeing Off for a Good Cause

The lady members of The Worcestershire Golf Club in Malvern have raised almost £4,000 for St Richard’s Hospice. The hospice was chosen as their charity of the year by Faith Tubb, Lady Captain for 2013.

The members arranged a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, raising a total of £3,905.25. Events included a bridge drive, raffles, quiz nights, and afternoon tea events. Mrs Tubb also completed the hospice’s Malvern Hills Walk in May.

Mrs Tubb, from Malvern, said: “My husband and I first visited St Richard’s Hospice when a neighbour of ours was being treated in the In-patient Unit. We were so surprised to find it a delightful place full of cheerful people. We were so grateful for the compassionate care our friend received and thought that if we were ever in need of hospice care, we would be so happy if we were able to come to St Richard’s. When I became Lady Captain, St Richard’s Hospice was an obvious choice for my charity of the year and I am very pleased to be able to make this donation.”

Rachel Jones, Fundraising Manager at St Richard’s Hospice, said; “We were delighted to be chosen by Faith Tubb as Lady Captain’s charity of the year and would like to thank all the members for their outstanding fundraising efforts. The money raised will be used to help the hospice continue to offer much needed care for patients with life threatening illnesses, including nursing care in their own homes, Day Hospice or in our purpose built In-patient Unit.”
