Get ready for summer fun with Woo Fest

Organisers behind one of the county’s most popular music festivals have announced the packed line-up for this summer’s event.

A variety of bands from across the region are on the bill for Woo Fest, taking place at The Drum and Monkey pub in Upton-upon-Severn in July.

For the first time in its five-year history, the festival will run over two days featuring acts on both Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6.

Since its inception in 2014, the award-nominated festival has donated all its proceeds to St Richard’s Hospice and last year raised more than £12,000.

The festival was set up by Luke and Ria Simons in memory of their father, John Simons, who was cared for by the hospice before he died in 2013.

However, the festival now includes many people who have been touched by the care the hospice provides.

Mr Simons, festival organiser, said: “Woo Fest has grown year-on-year and we have a loyal fan-base – as well as new festival-goers joining us.

“This year’s line-up is incredible and every single penny of the ticket price goes to St Richard’s Hospice, thanks to all our supporters and sponsors.

“It’s going to be a great weekend for all the family, so book your tickets now!”

Among the bands performing over the weekend are Arcadia Roots, Killerstream, Connor Maher Quartet, Cuba Libre, The Flames, Immy & The Boatmen, Stone Mountain Sinners, Vincent Flatts Final Drive, Chimp on a Bike, In Evolution, Tazmin Barnes, The Hill’s Angels, Frazer Lepford, The Lost Path, Ruben Seabright and OddBox Eric and the Guitar Social.

Alongside the music, there will also be a host of family activities including crafts, face painting, a bouncy castle, forest school and ‘Jungle Jiggle’.

Tickets are now available to buy and until the end of May, Smiths News has pledged to donate an extra £10 per ticket to the hospice.

Mr Simons added: “We are so grateful to Smiths News for offering this incentive. It’s a fantastic way to raise even more money for the hospice.”

Claire James, hospice fundraiser, said: “We are so excited for this year’s Woo Fest which looks set to be bigger and better than ever.

“The Woo Fest team do such an incredible job in supporting St Richard’s and we are so grateful for their dedication and hard work. Bring on the summer!”
