A traditional barn dance is to be held in Peopleton to support St Richard’s Hospice on Saturday 13th June.
The event, which has been organised by kind permission of Sue and Paul Dunne at Old Pound Farm, Peopleton near Pershore, will be held in the farm’s barn. People are invited to join the evening of the light hearted fun and enjoy dancing to the toe tapping music of traditional jigs and reels.
Guests will be treated to live music and caller from The Whole Caboodle followed by a pig roast and cheese and biscuits. Real ales from Wye Valley Brewery and ciders from Clives Fruit Farm will be available from the event bar.
The Whole Caboodle plays old and new tunes from all over the British Isles and beyond. In addition to traditional dance tunes, the group also plays traditional folk tunes as well as pop songs, mainly from the 60s, to give a real spin on a regular barn dance experience.
The barn dance is kindly sponsored by local business Jelf Clarke Roxburgh and supported by the St Richard’s Hospice Business Patrons.

Rachel Jones, Fundraising Manager at St Richard’s Hospice said; “We are so excited about this event. You don’t get a chance very often to take part in a barn dance on a real farm! We are so grateful to Sue and Paul Dunne for clearing out their barns to allow us to put on this really fun event. We would also like to thank Paula Hill, from E Hill & Son, who first suggested a fundraising barn dance.
She added; “We are definitely not looking for expert dancers but just people who know how to enjoy themselves and for the non-dancers come along and enjoy the pig roast and real ales and ciders. For those who want to get into the spirit we will be awarding prizes for the best dressed, so it’s a chance to dig out your check shirts, hats and boots!”
