Waste management company putting best feet forward for charity

Employees from a Worcester-based waste management company will be stepping out this summer to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

A team of six walkers from Waste Efficiency will take part in the popular annual 31 mile Worcestershire Way walk on Friday 23 June.

The walk will begin in Bewdley at 6.00am and finishes in Malvern. Coach travel to the start is optional, leaving St Richard’s Hospice at 5.15am. Last year more than 130 people took part raising £20,000 to fund its valuable work.

Tim Reed, Managing Director of the company said : “We decided to raise funds for the hospice as it provides an essential service for the county and the people who work there touch so many people’s lives.  We realise that fundraising activities like this form an essential part of the hospice’s ability to deliver specialist palliative and end of life care and we wanted to contribute.”

Alison Parkes, Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice explained : “We are thrilled that the team from Waste Efficiency have decided to take part in the Worcestershire Way walk and raise vital funds for our work.  We wish them all the best on the day!”

Those taking part will be treated to lunch at The Talbot Inn at Knightwick; the walk will also be supported by marshals with vehicles as well as first aiders.  Refreshments and water will be provided along the route.

Walkers pay a £10 administration fee and are asked to raise sponsorship.

The event is sponsored by Carisson Properties Ltd.
