When, where and how you can donate to shops

3rd July 2020

Update – Friday, 3rd July: Due to the incredible generosity of our supporters, all four of our donation stations are now full and have been temporarily closed. We anticipate being able to reopen the donation stations next week. Please see below for details. Thank you for all your support, and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you’ve been having a clear-out during lockdown, you can take your good-quality, resaleable items to collection points at the designated stores below on set days and times.

Read on for information on how to donate, and the latest guidance on furniture collections.

Please note we are not currently accepting donations at any of our other shops.

Information for making your donation

  • To meet infection control guidelines donors will be asked to place items directly into a container or hospice van where they can remain for 72 hours before handling.
  • Donations must not be taken into the shop.
  • There will be signage in place directing you to the donation point.
  • All donations must be in a box or secured bag and appropriately wrapped, not loose.
  • If you gift aid goods, please obtain labels from the shop and attach to your donations.
  • We will do our best to accept your donations, but once the container is full you will need to return the following week.

Furniture collections

Please do not bring furniture donations to our collection points. You can arrange to have items of furniture collected. We are only able to offer to collect furniture at this time, and not other items.

If you wish to have an item of furniture collected, please:

  • Email a photo and description of the item to furniture@strichards.org.uk
  • Include your full name, address including post code, and telephone number
  • Add your gift aid number, if you have signed up to the scheme
  • To help us collect promptly, easy access is appreciated. For example, place your items in a garage, etc. where possible.

Quality donations

The quality of our care depends on the quality of your donations. Please be thoughtful about the items you donate, and make sure they are good-quality.

For advice on items we can and can’t accept, see our Quality Donation Guide below.
